Truck driver who abducted siblings arrested in Arizona: cops
A truck driver from Florida was arrested in Arizona after kidnapping two siblings in Texas, police said.
Marshall Pendergrass, 47, of Jacksonville, was arrested Saturday in Winslow, Arizona, after cops got a tip from police in Belton, Texas, regarding a 14-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother who were reported missing on Friday, police announced Sunday.
Officers in Winslow then made contact with Pendergrass, who was located inside his semi-truck, along with the missing children, who were found inside the vehicle’s sleeper cab.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the children — who were both unharmed — were being held against their will by Pendergrass, who is not related to the juvenile victims, police said.
Pendergrass’ neighbors in Jacksonville, meanwhile, told WJXT that the children previously lived with their mother in Florida and met him there.
The children were later turned over to the Arizona Department of Child Services.
Pendergrass remains held pending federal charges. An investigation into the allegations by Winslow police and FBI officials is ongoing, police said.
